چکیده

2014 A transfer-matrix method is used to calculate the correlation length for strips of finite width in the bond and site percolation problem. From the knowledge of these correlation lengths we compute the thresholds and the critical exponent 03BD by the phenomenological renormalization method. Corrections to scaling and phenomenological renormalization for 2-dimensional percolation and lattice animal problems

2014 We continue and improve the transfer matrix approach of Derrida and de Seze by incorporating in two different ways the leading corrections to the asymptotic behaviour for wide strips. We find for the site percolation threshold in the square lattice pc = 0.59274 ± 0.00010, for the radius exponent of lattice animals 0.64075 ± 0.00015, and for the inverse growth factor or critical fugacity 0....

Multifractal properties of aperiodic Ising model on hierarchical lattices: role of the geometric fluctuations

The role of the geometric fluctuations on the multifractal properties of the local magnetization of aperiodic ferromagnetic Ising models on hierarchical lattices is investigated. The geometric fluctuations are introduced by generalized Fibonacci sequences. The local magnetization is evaluated via an exact recurrent procedure encompassing real space renormalization group decimation. The symmetri...

Critical Phenomena: Landau Theory and the Renormalization Group Method

We first discuss a phenomenological mean-field theory of phase transitions due to Landau and introduce the ideas of universality and scaling near critical points. The breakdown of mean-field theory near a critical point leads us to introduce the renormalization group method, which has had a major impact on our understanding of phase transitions, quantum field theory, and turbulence. We introduc...

Connectivity-dependent properties of diluted sytems in a transfer-matrix description

We introduce an approach to connectivity-dependent properties of diluted systems, which is based on the transfer-matrix formulation of the percolation problem. It simultaneously incorporates the connective properties reflected in nonzero matrix elements and allows one to use standard random-matrix multiplication techniques. Thus it is possible to investigate physical processes on the percolatio...

Percolation, Renormalization and the Quantum-Hall Transition

In this article, I give a pedagogical introduction and overview of percolation theory. Special emphasis will be put on the review of some of the most prominent of the algorithms that have been devised to study percolation numerically. At the central stage shall be the real-space renormalization group treatment of the percolation problem. As a rather novel application of this approach to percola...
